Debating Independence: The American Revolution in 1776 In-Person / Online
In January 1776, most Americans thought independence was a terrible idea, favoring reconciliation with Great Britain. Historian Joyce Haworth has the story of the blunders of a king, the persuasiveness of an essay, and the destruction of warfare.
